Winning history: Evaluation of the ACT Book of the Year Award

Winning history: Evaluation of the ACT Book of the Year Award

My hope for Capital history here is it will, in part, be the place to find out about winning history – historical research and writing recognised for its excellence.

Why the focus on winning history? For me, quality history and the historians who produce it should be better known and appreciated. That’s why Capital history here will include regular updates on history awards.

ACT Book of the Year Award

In recent years the ACT Book of the Year Award has awarded or shortlisted some notable histories. The award, however, is currently closed. According to artsACT an evaluation of the ACT Book of the Year Award is being undertaken. This includes a survey where the community can provide feedback on the award. Details of this are here.

Previous winners and shortlisted books for the ACT Book of the Year Award are here.

Are you aware of the ACT Book of the Year Award? Are you drawn to histories that have won prizes? What makes you want to read a particular history?

Please share. Lets get the past and present talking.
